We’re Hiring: General Manager


The World Amateur Golfers Championship (WAGC) is the biggest amateur golf competition in the world being held in over 45 different countries worldwide. Last year was just our second time to hold WAGC in the Philippines and we had a very successful run with 22 different Qualifiers and a 2 day National Final. This year, we are hoping to grow by having more players, qualifiers, and making our events more professional.

We are looking for a General Manager who will lead the Events and Operations of WAGC Philippines. This includes Maintaining Relationships with our partner courses and players, Tournament Planning, and acting as a Tournament Director during our golf events. Our ideal candidate will work directly with our account manager to ensure that our events are at the highest level.

Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Lead, Manage, Keep Staff Accountable
  • Course & Player Relations
    • Develop New and Manage Existing Relationships with the Golf Courses, GM’s, Directors
    • Develop New and Manage Existing Relationships with Golf Industry Professionals, Players and Brand Ambassadors
    • Get Qualifier Courses and Get Contracts Signed
  • Tournament Planning
    • Establish Event Goal and Objectives
    • Choose a Date, Time and Format
    • Find a Location and Venue
    • Create a Pre Event Plan & Presentation (Theme, Design, Overall Look)
  • Day-Of Tournament Golf Director
    • Role: WAGC Point Person and Team Lead
      • Point Person with Course GM, Tourn Director, Caddy Master, Referee
      • Point Person in case anyone has any questions or concerns regarding WAGC.
      • Ensure overall tournament is setup and operating according to WAGC standards
      • Ensure that our course partners, players and industry contacts have a great overall experience.
    • Tournament
      • Edit and Finalize Tournament Rules, at least 3 day before event
      • Flight pairings, finalized and turned in at least 3 days before event
      • Will be the final decision regarding any tournament complaints or concerns after consulting the course tournament director and/or referee.
    • Awarding Ceremony
      • Point person to speak on behalf of WAGC and present the trophies (if necessary)
      • Socialize and Network with Course staff, sponsors, media and players

Who We Are Looking For:

  • Someone who is passionate about Golf and furthering the Game of Golf in the Philippines.
  • Someone who has at least 5+ years in the Golf industry and has a strong understanding of the Rules and Game.
  • Someone who has a strong operations background.
  • Someone who has the desire to be a Game Changer, a Leader, an Influencer with a Voice in the decisions of the company.
  • Someone who is self-motivated and is driven by performance and targets.
  • Someone who loves meeting new people and are comfortable being in new environments (including being on TV).
  • Must be able to make all of our weekly planning meetings (1 day/wk)
  • Must be able to attend all of our Golf Events (most will be on Saturdays)

Who We Are Not Looking For:

  • Someone who would rather take direction and be told what to do, instead of coming up with ideas on their own.
  • Someone who hates metrics, accountability and goals.
  • Someone who hates Responsibility and is always Late.
  • Someone who is not comfortable speaking and meeting new people.
  • Someone who does not have the flexibility to travel or be put in new environments.
  • Someone who has no interest in Golf and is just looking for a job.

As the Golf Director, you will work hand in hand with the Events Coordinator and meet weekly with the Management Team and Directors.
